7:45 on a Saturday night, I find myself walking down the Eastern Amsterdam dockyards where the Dutch East India Company once had its shipyards and warehouses. December 1st, it is dark, cold and desolate. The city sounds fade and my 5 inch heels are the only sound on the wet and wobbly pavement. In the distance I see silhouettes, the moon circling them like chalk outlines. People are walking side by side in a sort of queue as if they’re going to a Sunday mass. More footsteps, I must be heading in the right direction. I walk around the corner to see fire coming out of oil drums, people warming their hands, their breath forming little clouds. This could be a New York movie scene with vagabonds and roasted chestnuts. I feel excited.

Alice Temperley for JBC

Alice Temperley (Temperley London) has designed a capsule collection for Belgian retailer JBC and I absolutely adore it! Bold yet romantic. The collection was inspired by the iconic Temperley elements and best-sellers over the last decade. Short jackets, intarsia knit dresses, delicate lace, leather, vintage prints and military accents, combining both male and female elements. I'm especially in love with the blouses.

The collection is in stores since September 7 in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Promostyl Lingerie Trend Book

As a stylist it's always fun to notice that your trend forecasts are on the spot!

My final fashion academy project was based on the theme Birds of Paradise, at the same time Marlies Dekkers designed a whole collection around that theme. The trend forecasting book I made in 2004, with a forecast for the next ten years, is currently visible. And the trend that Promostyl portrays in their lingerie trend book is very much in line with the lingerie collection I designed last year for season A/W 2012-2013.
