HOW TO MAKE IT IN FASHION

Yesterday evening I was one out of lucky 50 to attend the How I Got The Job In Fashion master class, presented by Marie Claire, Amsterdam International Fashion Week and Fashion United. The inspirational event took place in the wonderful Andaz Hotel in the city centre of Amsterdam. Several fashion-industry superstars told how they landed their dream jobs and dished out work advice we should all take to heart.

TRANS GENDER FASHION

On June 12th 16 female graduates of Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam presented their graduation collections, alongside a selection of designs by 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students. ‘Fifty-Fifty’ was the theme of this year’s fashion show. This means there was an equal amount of male and female collections. The designers also crossed the boundaries of male and female by injecting female elements into menswear and vice versa. Will trans gender fashion be the new current?

THE FASHION WORLD OF JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

Kunsthal Rotterdam is showcasing 35 years of fashion by Jean Paul Gaultier in his first international solo exhibition that toured Montreal, Dallas, San Francisco and Madrid. On behalf of Mimik Magazine I had the pleasure of previewing the exhibition and meeting Jean Paul Gaultier himself.

SALON INTERNATIONAL DE LA LINGERIE

Last weekend I visited the largest lingerie trade show of Europe in Paris, Salon International de la Lingerie and the intimate apparel fabric trade show Interfilière. I discovered some wonderful new brands and got a heads up of the A/W 2014-2015 trends.
