In September Kukka moved to a new studio space, in "De Wasserij" building in Rotterdam. De Wasserij (the laundromat) is the new hub for innovative fashion professionals. This new breeding ground is located in the old laundromat factory building of the former Bergweg Hospital. For the past two years the building is transformed into studio spaces and a textile lab makerspace and the opening is celebrated with a fashion festival.

The Getting Closer Fashion Festival is all about the love, time and craftmanship that goes into making fashion. In a weekend full of open studios, workshops, films and talks visitors can meet local designers and makers. You can have your favourite garment repaired or get hands on yourself in the makers lab. Shop for unique items in the pop-up shop or take a tour in the neighbourhood and hunt for the best finds at sustainable local hotspots.
Kukka's studio is open to visitors all weekend. Come and see our beautiful instagrammable mural and see what we do in the studio. We will also sell our entomology silk scarves in a stock sale in the pop-up shop on the first floor. On Saturday Kukka's studio will also be part of the Rotterdam Fair Fashion Tour #1 and Laura will talk about eco friendly textiles at the Fashion Talk #2 Sustainable Textiles.
